This procedure is universal for any laptop or tablet you use no matter which OS is installed. After everything is done, the battery controller should be reporting correct values without unexpected capacity jumps or shutdowns.

Things are a bit different with Apple laptops. Apple says there is no need to calibrate MacBook battery if you are using the one with a non-removable battery. macOS does everything for you which is nice. Things are different with older MacBooks. If you use MacBook Pro with a removable battery, then you need to calibrate MacBook pro battery using the same idea described above. And since we are talking about macOS, not Windows, make sure your laptop won’t go to sleep when after you left it idling with the charger being disconnected.
